Ace the first date

Finding a date is no longer as complicated as it used to be. Finding a single woman online is easy at any of the popular online dating sites. For those that prefer going about it the old traditional way, finding and meeting single women at social and cultural events is a good option. Once you meet someone you are attracted to and decide to go on a date together, there are certain aspects to keep in mind.

Keep it simple: When you do not or hardly know the person you are going to go on a first date with, why complicate matters by planning something lavish. Stick to the basics and keep it simple. The main thing is to get talking and learn about each other. Instead of opting for a candlelit dinner at a fancy restaurant (only to discover you’ll are incompatible), share a cup of coffee together. If you’ll click as a couple and the sparks fly you plan something more detailed and swanky like having a meal together or spending the day together. Until then keep it short and simple!

Don’t sweat it out: While getting a tad bit anxious is only natural, it is not something to lose sleepover. If you build up too much stress and anxiety it will show up in your interactions with your partner. This will make her feel uncomfortable as well, not something to aspire for on a first date! The more stress-free and relaxed you appear the more comfortable your partner will feel. It will help to have a very relaxed and enjoyable first date.

Try and meet in person: While you might have met each other at an online dating platform, do not let relationships remain online for too long. Once both of you are comfortable with one another and mutually agree to meet in person, do it! While messaging online is fine actually meeting together, interacting, and judging each other is very important. So once you’ll click online do not delay and set up a date where you can actually meet each other at a convenient location.

Be prepared: As with everything else, a bit of preparation will go a long way to enjoying a successful date. One area where a lot of couples struggle on a first date is having a conversation. You need to think about the questions you will ask and what answers you can expect. However, do not get too anxious and relax, it is a date and not a job interview.  Keep the conversation light-hearted and easy-flowing while giving your partner an equal opportunity to speak. Be confident but do not try to show too much swag, or it could backfire.

Listen carefully: While most people enjoy talking about themselves, it can become monotonous, especially if you are on a first date. Alternatively, if she does all the talking that also would not be a great date. The secret to having a successful conversation is to talk and more importantly listen to your partner. Base your questions by asking to follow-up questions from her. This shows that you paid attention to their conversation and send out a positive message.

Leave a good impression: As the saying goes the first impression can be the last impression, so make sure it remains a positive one. That means being well dressed and having a positive attitude. Make it a point to smile while speaking though not continuously or she would think you are silly. Give off positive vibes and the date will definitely be a success. Dress wise keep it casual but not too casual as if you are attending a poolside party!

Be yourself: With so much competition around us, we tend to get competitive and on the defensive with people. To try and impress people sometimes we try to mimic or copy somebody we are not. This is definitely not the right way to about a first date. If you want to truly connect with your date, be your own natural self. When you are relaxed and your normal self your partner will also be comfortable and the date successful.

If the date is a success, make it a point to follow up: After your date has been a success with plenty of meaningful conversation and the chemistry clicked, what next? To ensure that you capitalize on the initial rapport you need to have an appropriate follow-up. This would pave the way for meeting again. While this could be discussed at the end of the first date itself, it is better not to rush things and give her time to re-evaluate the way she feels about you.  You could instead message her after you’ll reach home and mention you had a great time, and when possible suggest meeting up again. Or you could even give her a day before asking messaging her. Even if the response is not immediate do not keep messaging her lest you come across as desperate.

Even if she does not respond as you hoped, it is okay. There is a whole wide world out there with plenty of options. Take the date as a learning experience and be positive about the whole matter.
